Camelsdale Primary

A Flying Start to a Learning Life

Welcome

Hello everyone and welcome to Camelsdale Primary School!

Camelsdale Primary School is the oldest County Council School in West Sussex built in 1904 and, as its Headteacher, I have the privilege of working with staff, parents, children, governors and other members of the community to lead our very good and special school forward towards outstanding.

What will strike you about Camelsdale is our caring, friendly, family feel environment focussed on exciting learning and set in beautiful grounds. Our focus is on providing that Flying Start to a Learning Life for your children.

As a community, we share the responsibility of raising our children to be happy, successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens who are fully prepared to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world. Our school encourages all our children to look beyond their horizons and become self-motivated, independent and responsible people - we value and nurture creativity, resilience and resourcefulness. We expect good behaviour and good respect. We grow tomorrow’s health-aware grown-ups along The Camelsdale Way.

We achieve this by working in partnership with parents and in the company of skilled professionals on a truly memorable learning journey over seven years – one that engages children and celebrates equality and diversity. We are very much an inclusive school.  There are plenty of opportunities to learn inside and outside the classroom - all enhanced by exciting trips, visitors and events.  Everyone leaves Camelsdale with very fond memories indeed!

We are a Forest School and offer a full programme of exciting forest school activities known at Camelsdale as “Wild School”! Given our lovely setting close to The South Downs National Park, we certainly capitalise on our surroundings for learning.  Strong features also include our international links and our teaching of Spanish, our love of the Arts and all thing sport related as well as Humphreys Café, for home-cooked food!

Do come on a visit and see for yourself - we would be delighted to show you round!
