Our Framework For Re-Opening
Our Framework For Re-Opening
We hope you are remaining safe and well. We continue to be so impressed with all everyone is doing at this challenging time. The children are so very lucky to have such supportive parents – thank you. We have really enjoyed seeing all the learning over the last few weeks…..perhaps we can persuade some of you to join the teaching profession!
As you know, the government has asked schools to extend its current provision to now include Year R,1 and 6 pupils as well as our key Worker children. Our priority remains the safety and well-being of all of our children and staff. We are thus taking a phased approach to the re-start.
Thank you to everyone who emailed in their questions in connection with the school Re-Start Plan. The staff and governors have been working hard to create the Re-Start Plan and to take into account all the risk assessments needed. It has definitely been a team effort.
I attach information here which will help you to see how we intend it all to work and to inform those of you who have yet to make a decision as to whether or not to send your child back. At the moment we have 16/30 Pandas wishing to return; 22/30 Polar Bears wishing to return; 29/32 Tigers wishing to return and up to 15 Key Worker families needing continued support. As with all plans, things are bound to evolve over the weeks as information from the government and West Sussex County Council continues to arrive! Please confirm with your class teacher your decision if you are yet to do so.
West Sussex County Council would like us to start to open up the café for a hot meal service. To ensure your child has a lunch if you would like them to, please book your lunches online in the normal way by 9am on Wednesday May 27 at the latest. We will be serving a simpler menu (the same each week until the end of term). The menu is here. If you forget to book by this date, you will need to provide a packed lunch the first week back. We would also like to advise you that our supplies may not always be able to meet our required orders and in this instance, we may need to adjust the menu at short notice.
We are looking forward to welcoming you and the children back to school and to continuing the Home Learning with our extended Camelsdale Community of Learners who are doing a sterling job learning at home. Keep going everyone! We are a special Camelsdale community indeed. We will keep you informed as to when the government or West Sussex tell us other year groups can re-start. The safety and well-being of our children and staff will always take priority in our thinking as we move forward. Thank you for your continued support. It is a real pleasure to lead the school throughout this unusual period in the school’s history. The Log Book is making for interesting reading!
