What is School Council?
School council is a way for pupils to help lead the school. For example, if you had an issue that needed to be brought up then you would tell a school council representative who would then report it back to the meeting. If you are not sure who your school councillor is look for a shiny blue badge on their chest.
When do we meet?
Our school council meets every fortnight to talk about what’s going on and how we can improve the school.
Who can be in the school council?
From Year 1 upwards each class elects two school council representatives. We also have two school council chairs.
What do we do in school council?
During our meetings we discuss the things we did during class council and any other issues someone wants to bring up. Recently we discussed:
- What to do with our play store money
- What our action plan should be
- What a good school councillor should be like
This is our school council car:
Our school council is a member of School Councils UK.
The two school council chairs receive “school council training” through our Rother Valley School link. School council is not the only way to have a role in school. We also have the following roles:
- Head boy
- Head girl
- Deputy Head boy
- Deputy Head girl
- Sports ambassadors
- House captains
