Can Our School ELSA's Help?
ELSA
Mrs Moore and Mrs Gray are our Emotional Literacy Support Assistants in school and are specially trained to help your child feel happy in school and to reach their potential educationally.
Their aim is to remove any barriers to learning and to have happy children in school and at home.
Our ELSA's can help with loss and bereavement, self-esteem, social skills, emotions, friendship issues, relationships, anger management, behaviour, anxiety, conflict and bullying.
Sessions can be either on an individual basis or in group sessions depending on the needs of the child.
The structure for each session will involve an emotional check-in to start (an opportunity to talk about how we are feeling) followed by activities tailored to the agreed objective of the session and finishes with relaxation techniques that can be used outside of these sessions too.
ELSA referrals are authorised in conjunction with the child's class teacher and they should be your first point of contact in relation to this service.
Mrs Gray also operates a wellbeing drop-in session for pupils each Friday between 12noon and 12.30pm, and alongside Mrs Moore is happy to catch-up with children throughout the school week at breaktimes.
