School Council
The menu has downgraded. It is at the bottom of this page.
Camelsdale school council is made up of two representatives from each of the junior classes, one boy and one girl, and two representatives from the year 2 class, who meet once a month, with one of the teachers, to discuss a range of issues. Topics for discussion come from the children themselves. Or, the council may be asked to discuss and take back ideas to their classes, on issues which the Teachers or Governors would like their opinions.

An agenda is drawn up for each meeting and minutes are taken.

The rule book drawn up by the School Council and referred to below has now been completed. A copy of the Golden Rules leaflet is available here as a pdf document.

What has our School Council been doing?
Summer Term 2007 - Report

This term Our School Council has:

  • Finished our “Pupils Opinions of Camelsdale School Book.” The Ofsted Inspectors were very impressed by this!
  • Finished our “Rule Book for Camelsdale School.” This is to help all of us to follow the rules and can be given to new children joining.
  • Been to tea with the teachers and Governors and helped with our School Development Plan.
  • Talked about “The Learning Ladder”. This may help us to understand at what level we are working.
  • Attended a joint Rother Valley School Council  Meeting at Midhurst Grammar School. Emily McEwan and Harry Griffiths represented us. They came back with some good Eco ideas ready for our Eco/ Green/ Healthy week in October.
  • Continued to think about our Eco work. We have talked about what to spend our Ink Cartridge Recycled money on... sponsor a child or contribute to towards a Shelter Box or both?? We have not quite decided.
  • Hosted a visit from Southwater Junior School Council in Horsham. They came to watch our School Council at work and get some ideas.
  • Visited Midhurst Primary School. Tom Sharman, Oscar Brown and Oliver Musgrave represented us and went on a Learning Walk around their school. They came back with some good ideas.
  • Hosted a visit from Midhurst Primary School Council. Callum McLean and Rachel Brown showed them round our school. They loved the grounds and our class names!
  • Attended a joint Think First School Council meeting at Bosham Primary School near Chichester. Josh Hegarty, Katherine Farnell – Watson, and Oliver Musgrave represented us. Here we talked about our plans for next year and had a swim in their pool!
  • Took part in the third Think First Pupil Conference held at Southwater Junior School in Horsham on June 5th. Callum McLean and James Lye represented us. They put up a display of some of our Outstanding Creative Learning and talked about it. They joined in some creative workshops and made a lovely large weaving with all the other children. “It is better to be connected and to work together” was a key message.
  • We helped Ofsted Inspectors by talking to them and showing them our School.
  • We have helped again towards the Eco Green Flag. Mrs Russell has sent it off now.
  • We have achieved a lot this year and have enjoyed the responsibility of being in our School Council.
