11th January 2010

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the Spring Term 2010 at Camelsdale Primary School. I hope you have had a lovely time with your children and wish you a very belated Happy New Year. Thank you all for your patience in the snow. I am sure you have had a memorable family time! In light of us visiting the emergency closure system, please add to the feedback sheet if you have any feedback!

The School role now stands at 214 pupils and we welcome to our team Mrs Prandle this term in her role as part time Teaching Assistant to Year 6. This has arisen to allow Mrs Glue to implement a Year 6 pupil’s Statement of Special Educational Needs. Welcome to the Team!

This term will see the recent Refurbishment project come to an end and some of the finishing touches added. We continue to review our Curriculum Journeys and to work alongside Year 6 on the design of their new Learning Journey.

We introduce this term, some new exciting Mathematics Games to help you to support your children at home in their Mathematics. Several parents have requested more advice and these games come highly recommended. They will allow you to practise with your children their mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding relating to Mathematics strategy.

Pupils in Year1 will choose a new game to play each week. We will welcome feedback as the term progresses.

Below is a pdf of the diary of events so far this term!

Other News:

School Travel Plan

Mr Clarke (Addison and Clarissa’s Dad) has very kindly stepped forward to act as our new Crossing Patrol Officer for the Camelsdale Road. THANK YOU! He will begin work once training etc is completed.

Please remember to use the Walking Bus on Wednesday and Friday from the Mill Tavern at 8.30am. Also please walk to school wherever possible. Year 2 have won the Walking Boot Trophy for December – well done. Pupils add a counter in their class pot every time they walk to school. Can your child take part?

Please let us know if you would like to join our Car Share Scheme. We will try to put you in touch with a nearby family so you can share lifts. Please complete the attached slip.

Peripatetic Brass/Guitar Lessons

There are now vacancies for anyone in Year 3 up who would like to learn to play a brass instrument or Guitar. Please let us know as soon as possible.

ECO School

We have submitted our re-application for the Green Flag Eco Award and are waiting for reassessment.

International Links

Thank you to the 9 families who have offered to host a Burgos pupil in June. They are very excited to be coming to England as are many of our 27 Year 6 pupils who will be going out there in May!! Please let us know if you can also host 2 children in June. Thank you.

Lost Property

We had an awful lot of lost property at the end of term. Please, please, please as we begin a new term, check your child’s clothes are clearly labelled – it is such a help if it is!

Also have you remembered to restock pencil cases?

Please make sure your child has their wellies, a warm waterproof coat in school and a named PE Kit. If you do nothing else this week….achieve these important tasks!!

Please help our Admin Team!

Please can you return all forms, letter, money in a named envelope and either send them in with your child to hand in or place in the white box in reception. You do not personally need to hand things to staff!

Thank you.

Here’s to a successful and enjoyable term.

Kind regards,

Sarah Palmer
