Our New Build Project 2004 -2005

The photos below tell the story of the build.

The two outside hutted classrooms as they were July 2004
You can just see Miss Robins (in pink) going up the steps to her classroom!

The old outside toilet block (which had been used in recent times as storage) was demolished.

The children lose most of their playground to make way for the builders roadway.
Safety fencing is put in place.

The outside classrooms are demolished in August 2004.

Sadly the large conifer has to be cut down.
The children will miss playing in and around this old tree.
We kept part of the tree trunk! I wonder what it will be used for...

The play equipment and cherry tree have to be removed to make way for the new wing.

The play equipment will be relocated around the field.
All this was done before the children returned to school in September.

A fence was erected to screen the site from the playground.
The builders cut peep holes and put in plastic windows so the children could see what was going on.

The site was cleared and prepared for building to start.

The children loved to watch what was going on.
They were able to continue playing on the field well into the Autumn term which relieved the pressure on the remaining playground area.

The new building starts to emerge.
These will be the new classrooms.

Scaffolding is put up as the building starts to grow.
The new bricks are a good match with the old building.

You never know what you might find in the playground!
But these are a bit to big to play with.
Everyone came out to see the crane when it arrived.

During the summer holidays the Pandas (Reception Class) were moved into the hall.
During Autumn half-term the doors are temporarily blocked off to the new wing.

This is how the area looked outside before the connecting corridor work was started.

The foundations for the new corridor are put in. Breaking through to the existing school took place during the Christmas holidays.

The end wall for the Pandas cloakroom is knocked through to form part of the new connecting corridor.

Inside the new classrooms (left) and staffroom (complete with under floor heating) begin to take shape.

The fencing is being removed ready for the start of the summer term.

From the field, still some work to do outside.

The new path around the field can be used all year.

The men our replacing the play equipment and installing a new piece.

The view along the bottom of the field.

Looking back towards the new wing, it's already blending in nicely.

Looking back towards the maze.

The new path runs all around the field.

The new wing, the Polar Bears classroom is on the right.

The end of the Pandas classroom.

Work has begun on the old Air Raid Shelter which is being converted into storage and changing facilities.
