Our Centenary Year Diary of Events January - December 2004
Edwardian Week - Tuesday January 5th until Friday
January 9th.
The staff and children came to school dressed in Edwardian costume.
As far as was possible, they spent the first week of term as if it were
1904.
More details can be found on the Edwardian
Week page.
Peter Pan - Friday 9th January.
The whole school went on an outing to see the pantomime at the New Victoria Theatre
Woking.
Peter Pan was written 100 years ago.
Camelsdale Reunited - Tuesday 16th March - The
official launch of this addition to our website.
All ex-pupils and staff are invited to register their details and add
memories and photos to the website.
It will also provide a way of making contact, via e-mail, with school
friends you have lost touch with.
Visit the Camelsdale Reunited section of the website after 16th March for
more details.
The School Centenary Summer Fete - organised by the
PTA - Saturday 20th June 1.00 - 4.00 p.m.
The fete naturally had a Centenary Theme.
It was great to see so many ex-pupils attending the event.
It was an enjoyable afternoon, despite the rain which cut short the
afternoon's activities.
Open Week-end - Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th June.
This was one of the highlights
of the year.
The whole school was open to visitors.
A special exhibition was set up through the school, with displays of
photographs and memorabilia spanning the 100 years.
See the photos on the Open Weekend
and Open Weekend 2 pages.
New Building Work Starts - After some delay the
work got underway in August 2004
More details can be found on The Building
page.
Alongside the building of the new classrooms by the LEA, the School is
planning the redevelopment of the Air Raid Shelter.
The plan is to convert this into much needed changing facilities for our
sports teams, and a storage area.
Children's Centenary Party - Tuesday 14th
September, the actual anniversary of the opening of the school.
The children had a tea party in the grounds with a special cake donated by
Waitrose. There was fun and games with a Punch and Judy show in the
church, the school hall being out if action because of the new building
work, it was a very enjoyable afternoon.
The Centenary Party - Saturday 18th September 7.30
p.m.
Held in a marquee in the school grounds, with live music, fun casino, buffet supper and bar.
A great evening, take a look at the
Centenary Party page for more information and photos.
