If children are off school because they are sick then we would not send work home. We would make the assumption that they are not well enough to work. It may happen that a child is off for a length of time, though is well enough to do some work at home, e.g. broken leg. In these circumstances, it is up to the teacher and parents to agree about what should be done, how it will be marked, and what help needs to be given. Sometimes parents need to take holidays in school time and may ask for their children to be given homework for that period. This is not possible in most situations. If you have any queries about homework, please see your child's teacher. Children who fail to complete their homework will have complete their work in their lunchtime. If this persists, formal contact will be made with the parents. Where circumstances are difficult at home, we are obviously sympathetic and make appropriate allowance. This policy is reviewed annually and is the overall responsibility of the school's Senior Management Team as Key Stage 1 and 2 coordinators. Class teachers are responsible for checking samples of homework. Parents are reminded of this policy each Autumn and invited to make comments Date: Autumn 2005 Review: Autumn 2006 Senior Management Team |
